7 years & 10 months old - 8 years & 6 months old

16 Aug 2015
I corrected your breast stroke & reminded you to ensure your hands move just near the surface so that your body wouldn't sink in so much. We also learn the basic which is swimming straight with a board. While lying down on the bed tonight, you asked what if one day you fall sick when you are away from home i.e. in college. I said then you will have a room-mate to help care for you. You asked what if you are home sick. Can you come home and visit us? I said yes. I said ride on a bus to go back home every weekend last time. So a lot of money was spent on buying bus tickets.

23 Aug 2015
Notes on I believe in you. You have high perseverance. You always keep on trying and dare to take risk. You are independent.

20 Sep 2015
We were on 13 hours bus ride from Penang to KL. You learnt to sleep in the bus by yourself with C and she helped to look after JK when I go to the toilet.

4 Oct 2015
After our Penang trip, you seem to be more independent & tough. During the long journey, you had to endure being hungry, tired and not having a comfortable place to sleep. I was sitting with JK and daddy on the other side. Mummy was feeling nausea due to lack of food. I kept the food for you, C and JK because I was afraid we couldn't stop for food.

12 Oct 2015
I brought choc moist cake from secret recipe to daycare to celebrate your birthday. This morning you complimented mummy for making good choices as all my clothes fits me perfectly well. The other day you said I matched your clothes really well too. You like me to wear my white top and white pants. You also like me to wear jeans.

7 Dec 2015
Today it's your first day of science camp. You nap at day care without any of our pillows. You successfully learn how to sleep without your favorite pillows and learn how to find the right position to fall asleep. That's an achievement.

16 Dec 2015
You used the word whimpering and I'm impressed. That's the output from your reading.

18 Jan 2016
You have turned into a happy girl ever since you joined your new school. Even though I just lecture you for loosing your bottle, never shower whole day and never brush teeth. You laughed when l said the cooling button on the hair dryer puts out fire if your hair becomes too hot. Previously, after a lecture, you usually would still be upset.
You are more mature and love didi more. Today, you cuddle him and kissed him. I haven't seen this sort of act since when he was still a baby. I'm really happy when both of you show affection towards each other.

20 Apr 2016
You said Ryan asked you to go out of the class to the bag area. You asked him to tell what he wanted to tell. He closed his mouth with both hands and then opened to utter "I Love You" so quickly before he ran back into the class.
In the car on our way home from condo, you told me Ryan touched your back to help you to climb up the slope. You told him you were fine and asked him to go do other things. Then he said he didn't have anything else to do. Hahahaha....
At night, you asked why Ryan loves you. I said it's our body's chemical reaction. When they are close to the right body that matches, then that person will think it's love.
I told you that it's normal to have someone telling you that he/she loves you. You said having Ryan to love you is useful. I was shocked. "USEFUL"? I can't believe my ears. I asked why do you say it's useful? You said if you are in trouble he will be there to help you. Hahaha!!
I asked you if you did play at school today. You said yes. You also went to the library for awhile. then you said..hmm...tomorrow maybe you will spend sometime with Jacelyn then maybe spend some time with Ryan. Then you continued saying..."I don't know...I'm not sure yet....Hahahahhaha!!!!

8 years & 9 months old - 14 July 2016 First School Trip

It's your first school trip today & I'm thinking about you since I left you at school. I let you keep your GPS watch in your bag just incase you needed to call me. I know this is against teachers advice that is to pass it to her when you see her but I'm just too worry.

I couldn't sleep last night thinking about what else I should remind you when you're out there without me. I wrote few reminders on a piece of paper and put it in a plastic A4 sheet protector so you can read to remember not to leave your partner and group member, not to walk alone, wipe your hands before touching your food etc.

You packed your own extra clothes and stomach ache oil (Ruyi Oil and Minyak Cap Kapak) into JK's small monkey bag. Initially you didn't know which bag to take along. Then you finally chose JK's little bag. You didn't want to take your Rilakuma bag because you think it's too big. I let you have RM20 to buy KFC for lunch because that's what is written in the itinerary for lunch at 12:30pm.

When you came back from the trip, you said some of your friends had stomach ache so luckily you brought ruyi oil & you're the only one who has it. You said your teacher, Ms Mayes had migraine so you passed her the "Minyak Cap Kapak" to apply on her head. For lunch, all of you had KFC. You didn't drink the ice lemon tea because you didn't like it. You sat with Crystal because she said you're her best friend and best friend forever. She told you before the trip, which is the day after your class performance on the 27th June.

On 27th June 2016, after your performance with your friends on the stage, I manage to speak to Crystal's mum. After she took a picture of Crystal, Jacelyn and you together, I told her that both of you sits together for lunch every day. The next day, you told me you have a good news. You said that Crystal said you're her best friend and also her best friend forever. I congratulated you & felt very happy for you.

You said sometimes Crystal will hug you from the back & so you did the same to her. So sweet.

7 years & 6 months old

I found this in my office & I thought I should scan it and post it here so you can see it in future.

This weekend 19th April 2015 you will be singing solo "Over the rainbow" with a band which consists of 2 violinist, 3 key board player & 2 pianist. I hope your performance will be as good as we hope for. This month we skipped 3 British Council classes just to go for this concert's rehearsal from 2pm to 6pm every Sunday. Mummy manage to get you a pair of rainbow colour fairy wings for the concert from Toys R us as requested by the principal.

Next week from 23rd to 28th April you will be having your 1st term school exam. I hope you will be able to focus well & answer all the questions correctly.

Day care teacher said you're a very smart girl. You're a fast learner too.

This month we've been really busy with concert preparation and exam. We hardly have time to play & reading. However, after all this, we will be going for a holiday. Like I always said, there's time for play & time for work, both are equally important.

This month, mummy accidentally gave you some Japanese crackers which I've forgotten that it actually would cause you to be dreamy & unable to focus or blur at day care & at home. After awhile seeing you behaving this way, I tried to recall what had happened recently. Was it because mummy was feeling stressed which indirectly caused you to feel stress? Then slowly, I thought maybe it could be the snacks with MSG which I gave you recently. Although the amount given to you was very little, I was sure that it was those snacks which contribute to your inability to focus. Hence, I stopped immediately. Then I spoke to the day care teacher 2 days later. She said you're better these 2 days.
It's very pitiful not to have snacks, so mummy got you lots of delicious fruits as an alternative. However, over the weekends, mummy always let you eat whatever you like to eat, except Sunday night.

I love you lots.

7 years old

For your birthday, we invited Aunty Giok Mui and her girl over, Chien Yi. She's just 2 years old. You love her to bits. You also helped to look after her. Sue Yin, Sue Yin & Mag came to your party too. Da gu bought you Princess Elsa's dress. Mummy had given you your Lego Olivia's house in mid September. Your standard 1 2nd term exam ended on the 15th Oct. You got all your results 90 and above. I'm so proud of you because we put in lots of effort in BM this term. Luckily we had Raya Qurban holiday on Monday. We started revising BM from 9am in the morning until bedtime for 3 days. Of course, in between, you're allowed to play and have a break. You did complained about the long hours of revision for BM. Luckily BM paper was on the first day after the 3 days break. So your memories were still fresh. I'm glad you did well this round. I'm most proud of your effort because at such a young age, you showed me your ability to push through difficult times and how you take pressure. Although it was difficult, but you continue to work hard.

First time sleepover 6 years & 10 months old

JK had conjunctivitis and spread to mummy, granny & ah yi. Daddy & kakak are safe at the moment. Mummy didn't want you to catch it so asked you to stay at Mag's house until we recover. You have been there since Tuesday. Today is Thursday. There, you have to wake up at 7am. When I asked you if you feel tired in the afternoon, you said you are not at all. You slept around 10.30pm last night. First night was at 11pm. Mummy miss you. I can't touch you, can't hug you. You and Mag comes back every day from school around 6.30pm to 7.15pm. Before that, mummy will spray the Ikea red table and green stools with hand sanitizer so both of you can sit there to have your dinner until Sin Yee ah yi comes to pick up both of you. While waiting, I'll ask you about school, whether your friends were good or bad today, did you shower at daycare today & remind you to wash your hands after toilet. You told me you missed me at night on the bed. I missed you too. I'm glad that at least I get to see you in the evening when you come back from school.

First' tooth extraction- 6 years & 9 mths

On the 2nd of July, you had your 2 bottom front teeth extracted due to your permanent teeth which had popped out since the week before. Mummy was worried that your permanent teeth will be crooked like mine when I was young. We actually had a walk-in appointment at one of the dentist at Puchong Jaya which was recommended by da gu. However, that morning, when we reached there, the nurse said there was a change in their appointment & we’ll have to wait till 11.30am & the person who has appointment will be attended first. Mummy couldn’t wait as I was on half day leave only. We went scouting for dentist. Most of them can only attend to walk-in’s by 4pm. You were upset & said “I told you, the nurse sure tells us we cannot see the dentist”. You were upset that they were all fully booked. I said “You are a child & your word is powerful. If you keep on saying there won’t be any dentist who will be able to see us then that’s what will happen”. So immediately you changed your words & said “We’ll find a dentist to see us, we will find a dentist to see us”. Miracle happened. The next clinic we found didn’t have a lot of appointment that day & it looks new & comfortable. There was only 1 patient before us. The dentist is a young man who looked like someone honest. His nurses looked cheerful & sweet. Overall, I guess I can trust them. Mummy’s past experience was horrible. I screamed so loud the whole hospital could hear. The nurse gave you a pair of sun glasses while you sit comfortably on the dentist chair watching cartoon. There were 4 teeth which were blocking the 2 front teeth. Dentist suggested extracting 2 for this round. He said if you’re fine with injections, then the extraction will not be painful. I was worried about how you’ll take it. Dentist insisted that he tells you the actual process to avoid future trauma. He was right. I’m glad he insisted than trying to fool you into the whole process which might breach the trust you have for me & dentists in future. First, we explained to me the whole process. Then he explained to you. He started off asking about your favorite color followed by a cute story. Dentist: Can you see your 2 new teeth in the mirror? They are your new friends & they cannot come in because these 2 front teeth are blocking them. Do you think we can take these 2 away? You: Yes. Dentist: I’ll apply some gel for you in case you feel some ant bite. You: OK I can’t remember how he told you about the injections though. Anyway, you were very obliging. I was thinking “ZY, I hope you know what you’re agreeing to” & just hope the best for you. The process went fast & smoothly. It was like a piece of cake for you. The dentist asked you to close your eyes when he was about to inject your gums. He tried to keep it out of your sight by holding it low. You have your sun glasses blocking part of the view of the big syringe. When the whole process was completed, the dentist made you a purple flower balloon as you told him earlier that your favorite colour is purple. You skipped school that day & rest at condo. Mummy rushed to office & was still trembling.

6 years & 6 months old

Every morning, mommy sends you to daycare at 8.30am. There, you have tuition, a subject everyday, have lunch & shower. At 12.15pm, daycare's driver sends you & the other children to school. After school, another van sends you home with Magdelene & some other children. You're quite happy at this daycare as the principle is a very loving person. She says you're a smart kid & you're a fast learner. Besides that, she also said that you're a cheerful girl & you always brighten up the teacher's day. You wash your school shoes sometimes. You pack your books for the next day by yourself. You are good at reading chinese characters & mommy feel so relief because I can't read chinese. You're getting very good at math. You manage to complete 3 books most of the time within 1 hour. Mommy is so proud of you. You stopped art for Mrs Seabourne's english class. Currently, on Saturdays, you have math in the morning then music in the evening. On Sundays, you have ballet in the morning & english in the afternoon. We did went for a morning exercise on Saturday before but that was just once. Mommy jogged & you cycled. Now that didi's Heguru has started, we don't have time for that anymore. Maybe we'll do it on Sunday morning instead. Sometimes, on Sundays, we would go to the playground, cycling or swimming. I miss you alot at work.
