7 years old

For your birthday, we invited Aunty Giok Mui and her girl over, Chien Yi. She's just 2 years old. You love her to bits. You also helped to look after her. Sue Yin, Sue Yin & Mag came to your party too. Da gu bought you Princess Elsa's dress. Mummy had given you your Lego Olivia's house in mid September. Your standard 1 2nd term exam ended on the 15th Oct. You got all your results 90 and above. I'm so proud of you because we put in lots of effort in BM this term. Luckily we had Raya Qurban holiday on Monday. We started revising BM from 9am in the morning until bedtime for 3 days. Of course, in between, you're allowed to play and have a break. You did complained about the long hours of revision for BM. Luckily BM paper was on the first day after the 3 days break. So your memories were still fresh. I'm glad you did well this round. I'm most proud of your effort because at such a young age, you showed me your ability to push through difficult times and how you take pressure. Although it was difficult, but you continue to work hard.

First time sleepover 6 years & 10 months old

JK had conjunctivitis and spread to mummy, granny & ah yi. Daddy & kakak are safe at the moment. Mummy didn't want you to catch it so asked you to stay at Mag's house until we recover. You have been there since Tuesday. Today is Thursday. There, you have to wake up at 7am. When I asked you if you feel tired in the afternoon, you said you are not at all. You slept around 10.30pm last night. First night was at 11pm. Mummy miss you. I can't touch you, can't hug you. You and Mag comes back every day from school around 6.30pm to 7.15pm. Before that, mummy will spray the Ikea red table and green stools with hand sanitizer so both of you can sit there to have your dinner until Sin Yee ah yi comes to pick up both of you. While waiting, I'll ask you about school, whether your friends were good or bad today, did you shower at daycare today & remind you to wash your hands after toilet. You told me you missed me at night on the bed. I missed you too. I'm glad that at least I get to see you in the evening when you come back from school.

First' tooth extraction- 6 years & 9 mths

On the 2nd of July, you had your 2 bottom front teeth extracted due to your permanent teeth which had popped out since the week before. Mummy was worried that your permanent teeth will be crooked like mine when I was young. We actually had a walk-in appointment at one of the dentist at Puchong Jaya which was recommended by da gu. However, that morning, when we reached there, the nurse said there was a change in their appointment & we’ll have to wait till 11.30am & the person who has appointment will be attended first. Mummy couldn’t wait as I was on half day leave only. We went scouting for dentist. Most of them can only attend to walk-in’s by 4pm. You were upset & said “I told you, the nurse sure tells us we cannot see the dentist”. You were upset that they were all fully booked. I said “You are a child & your word is powerful. If you keep on saying there won’t be any dentist who will be able to see us then that’s what will happen”. So immediately you changed your words & said “We’ll find a dentist to see us, we will find a dentist to see us”. Miracle happened. The next clinic we found didn’t have a lot of appointment that day & it looks new & comfortable. There was only 1 patient before us. The dentist is a young man who looked like someone honest. His nurses looked cheerful & sweet. Overall, I guess I can trust them. Mummy’s past experience was horrible. I screamed so loud the whole hospital could hear. The nurse gave you a pair of sun glasses while you sit comfortably on the dentist chair watching cartoon. There were 4 teeth which were blocking the 2 front teeth. Dentist suggested extracting 2 for this round. He said if you’re fine with injections, then the extraction will not be painful. I was worried about how you’ll take it. Dentist insisted that he tells you the actual process to avoid future trauma. He was right. I’m glad he insisted than trying to fool you into the whole process which might breach the trust you have for me & dentists in future. First, we explained to me the whole process. Then he explained to you. He started off asking about your favorite color followed by a cute story. Dentist: Can you see your 2 new teeth in the mirror? They are your new friends & they cannot come in because these 2 front teeth are blocking them. Do you think we can take these 2 away? You: Yes. Dentist: I’ll apply some gel for you in case you feel some ant bite. You: OK I can’t remember how he told you about the injections though. Anyway, you were very obliging. I was thinking “ZY, I hope you know what you’re agreeing to” & just hope the best for you. The process went fast & smoothly. It was like a piece of cake for you. The dentist asked you to close your eyes when he was about to inject your gums. He tried to keep it out of your sight by holding it low. You have your sun glasses blocking part of the view of the big syringe. When the whole process was completed, the dentist made you a purple flower balloon as you told him earlier that your favorite colour is purple. You skipped school that day & rest at condo. Mummy rushed to office & was still trembling.

6 years & 6 months old

Every morning, mommy sends you to daycare at 8.30am. There, you have tuition, a subject everyday, have lunch & shower. At 12.15pm, daycare's driver sends you & the other children to school. After school, another van sends you home with Magdelene & some other children. You're quite happy at this daycare as the principle is a very loving person. She says you're a smart kid & you're a fast learner. Besides that, she also said that you're a cheerful girl & you always brighten up the teacher's day. You wash your school shoes sometimes. You pack your books for the next day by yourself. You are good at reading chinese characters & mommy feel so relief because I can't read chinese. You're getting very good at math. You manage to complete 3 books most of the time within 1 hour. Mommy is so proud of you. You stopped art for Mrs Seabourne's english class. Currently, on Saturdays, you have math in the morning then music in the evening. On Sundays, you have ballet in the morning & english in the afternoon. We did went for a morning exercise on Saturday before but that was just once. Mommy jogged & you cycled. Now that didi's Heguru has started, we don't have time for that anymore. Maybe we'll do it on Sunday morning instead. Sometimes, on Sundays, we would go to the playground, cycling or swimming. I miss you alot at work.
